Phonetic Trilogy: Part 3, dual-sided paintings.« Back to Index
8 Movements, dual-sided painting series.
These works contextualize the symbolic language from Parts 1 and 2 onto dual-sided paintings on panel (Side A and Side B).
Within these oil paintings on panel, I use eight themes that are the structural components in a society such as ritual, education and economy. I intentionally layer, interconnect and repeat the visual metaphor and allusion to feel like information overload of society.
The dual-sided paintings from the 8 Movements series follow this organizing principle: on one side is an artificial environment (side A); and on the other side is a measure of the musical score (side B). Ideally, 8 Movements creates a maze of freestanding dual-sided paintings on wheels for the audience to rearrange and walk through.
